Guitar legend SLASH (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES) has begun recording his second solo album, with Myles Kennedy on vocals.

In a brief update, Slash states: "Just back from the studio. Ruff mixes sound great. Played a few for Eddie Trunk. Said he dug it."

Eddie Trunk, co-host of VH1 Classic's That Metal Show tweeted: "For those asking for more info on the Slash album, I can tell you the 3 songs I heard are heavy with killer riffs and vocals. Out next April. It's the same band that he has been touring with last couple years on the album, and it sounds more cohesive because of it. Really strong! Finally Slash said it was okay to reveal the song titles for the 3 tracks I heard: 'Halo', 'Standing In The Sun' and 'Bad Rain'. Great stuff."

Further updates as they surface.

TODD KERNS - bassist for Slash, vocalist and guitarist for SIN CITY SINNERS - recently issued his latest blog, an excerpt follows:

"So now here I am. Back on Planet Slash. Back when I was originally asked to support him on his first solo tour I wasn’t sure if it would be a month or maybe fly outs on weekends or what. Now here we are a year and a half later and we’re getting ready to record a new CD as a band. Did not see that coming.

We have been working on riffs for a while since we were on the road even. Those riffs have ballooned to almost 20 songs and growing. We have been hard at it in several writing sessions and are now in the midst of two weeks rehearsal. We’ll be entering Barefoot Studios with Eric Valentine in a few days to start work on the first few songs. We’ll finish up the record before the end of the year.

Eric has produced a lot of amazing stuff including Slash’s last record. We’ll be in the very studio where one of my favorite albums ever was recorded - Songs For The Deaf by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE (produced by Eric Valentine). It promises to be very exciting. I’m stoked!"

Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Slash's first ever live solo album, Made In Stoke 24/7/11, on November 15th.

Joined by Myles Kennedy of ALTER BRIDGE on vocals, Slash ripped through cuts culled from his GN’R days, Velvet Revolver, SLASH'S SNAKEPIT, and his solo album. His band lineup included bassist Todd Kerns, drummer Brent Fitz and guitarist Bobby Schneck.
