CRADLE OF FILTH Commence Work On New Full Length Studio Record, Tracklist Of Midnight In The Labyrinth Orchestral Album Revealed
October 23, 2011, 13 years ago
CRADLE OF FILTH frontman Dani Filth has checked in with the following update:
"Long time dead fellow creatures of the underworld! Sorry for my lengthy absence but this time of the year always brings out the creative touch-paper in the band, so we've made like busy little bees and started to write the follow up to last year's Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa, with two songs ('The Abhorrent' and 'Siding With The Titans' ) already past the demoing stage, with a third track snapping swiftly on their heels. I can reveal that they are sounding sonically, well, like Cradle of Filth, but in a very good way. But then again I would say that, wouldn't I? Whether it be true or not I think the songs thus far sound fab, very atmospheric but driving headlong, eerily cinematic and really memorable. At the present we are looking at entering the studio around the third week in March 2012 with that ever tentative release date of next All Hallow's Eve to crawl eventually toward. This would put the band firmly back out on the road towards the end of next year, possibly straight into the maw of Europe. There will be new things in the Cradle Of Filth canon as we really try not to stagnate, well not outside of our stage clothes anyway, but rest assured what has surfaced already is killer material indeed. And no, it's not's another fucking concept album!
As for other matters the EP/DVD Evermore Darkly should be out in a smattering of days, something has always been fan-related and served up like loving gloop just in time for Hallowe'en. It's an expansive release as we tried to get as much cool stuff on it as possible, including squeezing the whole hour-long show at Graspop into the jar as well. I think fans are going to love it, and if you don't, tough shit. We do!
The orchestral album Midnight In The Labyrinth is also gluing together nicely with three of the tracks having been mixed thus far. The full running order for this opus nocturne is as follows, though possibly not in this precise order…
'The Forest Whispers My Name'
'The Twisted Nails Of Faith'
'Summer Dying Fast' -a preview of this appearing on the EP
'The Rape And Ruin Of Angels (Hosannas In Extremis)'
'Funeral In Carpathia'
'Thirteen Autumns And A Widow'
'A Gothic Romance (Red Roses For The Devil's Whore)'
'Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids'
'Dusk And Her Embrace'
If you've been holidaying on Venus for the past few months then you most likely won't been aware of this exciting COF project which features nine classic Cradle tunes reinvented as orchestral compositions. This is no elevator music (or indeed the theme music to Schindler's Lift!), this is a full-on horror film soundtrack in the vein of Danny Elfman, Christopher Young or Jerry Goldsmith. Musical scores to whittle away the evil winter months to… this should see the poisonous light of day in April 2012. Ish.
There is also a wealth of new merchandising on the way too, which can be found on the band's web-store on this very site, including the re-introduction of the classic 'Jesus Is A Cunt' t-shirt in all it's ultra blasphemous glory, as well as key iconic designs from our back catalogue. Also keep your eyes peeled for a glut of new designs which will be arriving just in time for Xmas morn. Festive they ain't!
Once again thanks for your patience and ardent devotion to the cause and have a truly creepy All Hallow's Eve if I don't catch you in the meantime.
Ave Sultanas! Fork the prunes!"

A follow-on from last year’s triumphant Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa album, Evermore Darkly will arrive as a CD/DVD package including new tracks and rarities, with a lengthy on-the-road documentary and ten songs filmed live at this year's Graspop metal meet, as well as the video for 'Lilith Immaculate'.
The CD features brand new musical beast ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’, plus a special remix of ‘Forgive Me Father’, courtesy of Rob C from ANTHRAX, an extended rendition of ‘Lilith Immaculate', as well as tempered demo versions of three ‘Darkly, Darkly…’ songs. The mini-album closes with a special taster from Cradle Of Filth’s impending orchestral project, in the form of a haunting, classic reworking of fan-favourite, ‘Summer Dying Fast’.
The ‘Evermore Darkly’ DVD contains footage from Summer 2011, when Cradle Of Filth embarked on a rapid spat of tours, accompanied by two eager filmmakers. The resulting documentary, 'You Can't Polish A Turd, But You Can Roll It In Glitter', combined with performance and interview footage culminates in a forty five minute film of the not so glamorous reality of life in a touring band at work and play, as they trawl their way across Europe over eight performances. The DVD includes an interview with ghoul-guide Dani Filth, interspersed and peppered with live footage and backstage shenanigans, culminating in the entire hour long set from this year's highly anticipated Graspop festival appearance.
Dani states that it is 'a much-loved musical stop-gap between albums, a pleasure treasure trove of wild and wicked wonders primed especially for fans. Something for them to sink their teeth into this Autumn as the Cradle invasion fleet is primed for future contagion….'
A mini-site has been launched in anticipation of the release, and contains audio samples from the new mini-album, the band’s latest music video for 'Lilith Immaculate', album info, downloads and more. Check it out at this location.
A new video clip from the DVD portion of the release is now availble. Check out two clips below:
