METALLICA's Lars Ulrich Discusses Lulu Album - "People Would Like Us Not To Stray Beyond Certain Boundaries"

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich recently spoke with USA Today about the new Lulu album, the band's new collaboration with LOU REED. He commented on the band's need to step out of the box, which in this particular case has alienated some of Metallica's fans:

"People would like us not to stray beyond certain boundaries," he says. "That would kill Metallica. We feed on freedom. We love coming back to metal, but we need to turn over rocks or we'd suffocate. That's our DNA."

Artisan News Service recently conducted an interview with Lou Reed and Metallica. In the interview Reed explains how he got Metallica to do their new collaboration album Lulu, and how they were the body to his head. Watch the interview below:

Lou Reed and Metallica's Lulu album will be released by Warner Bros. Records on November 1st in North America (October 31st elsewhere).

Lulu was co-produced by Reed, Metallica, Hal Willner who has produced albums for Reed, MARIANNE FAITHFUL, and LAURIE ANDERSON, among others and Greg Fidelman. Fidelman also mixed the record.

Lou Reed & Metallica have issued the following update:

"We already told you that Lou and Metallica will be appearing on the Jools Holland Show in the UK on November 8th and 11th. The guys couldn't make just one stop while we are visiting this part of the world, so television shows in Paris, France and Milan, Italy are now on the schedule for November 9th and 13th respectively.
