BLOOD STAIN CHILD vocalist Sophia is featured in a new interiew with France-based Metal-Impact.com. An excerpt is available below:

MI: "Your vocals are different from those of all the female fronted bands, nearly all gothic or symphonic oriented. Which artists do influence you? And what about the band as a whole?

Sophia: "That’s right. The one thing I dislike the most is copycats and doing the same thing as everybody else. Lack of imagination is a crime in my heart, so I always try to open my mind and see what comes out of me naturally. I don’t wanna be somebody else, it’s so embarrassing! It means you’re on bad terms with yourself, that you’re not good enough. This is not the case with me. Whatever it is that I have to give, I will give it the way I feel it, with honesty.

Also, I’m not a big fan of female-fronted bands, to be honest. Some people did it well back in the day though. What concerns me the most is the way women are presented in the scene. Their overexposure compared to the rest of the band, you know, a hot chick in the middle and the guys around don’t matter so much. I prefer a general equality in the band, I want everybody to get a bit of the spotlight. I’ve got nothing against bands who choose the stereotype, it’s just not what I’m looking for in music.

Influences… despite being female-fronted, I used to be a huge fan of THE GATHERING, when Anneke van Giersbergen was still there. She’s my most beloved female voice. My favourite bands of all time are ANATHEMA, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS and MALICE MIZER. I think I have the most diverse musical background out of all members (laughs). I started from '90s pop and techno, old Britpop and alternative, went on to metal, then to EBM/industrial/synth pop, then I found Visual Kei. Also recently, I started listening to stuff like Frank Sinatra, Julio Iglesias and Bossanova a lot (laughs).

Ryu (guitars) likes death metal and anime songs. Ryo likes black and death metal. G.S.R. listens to T.M. REVOLUTION and Japanese rock bands (not Visual Kei). Gami listens to…AKB48 and other idol bands. Aki likes trance and industrial and other obscure stuff. We’re a band full of diverse music tastes, go figure (laughs)!"
