QUEEN drummer Roger Taylor has officially debunked recent reports regarding plans for a new album from the band that would feature FREDDIE MERCURY’s vocals taken from demo recordings.

In an exclusive conversation with Ultimate Classic Rock, Taylor said that while there are no plans for such an album, they are indeed working to prepare songs that Mercury recorded with MICHAEL JACKSON for future release.

“I’ve got to tell you, there won’t be an album. There’s just not enough and the last thing I want to do is have a sort of barrel-scraping exercise. But there’s a couple of great tracks that Freddie recorded with Michael Jackson that Brian and I are working on and they are good. So at some point they will surface I think when we feel it’s a good moment. I don’t really want to ride any sort of wave there. So that’s an interesting thing, but that will be probably later some point next year.”

Over the course of the past 10 weeks, vocalists guitarists, drummers, bassists and keyboard players from across the US and Canada have auditioned online, hoping to become part of The Queen Extravaganza Tour, a major production launching in 2012 featuring performances of Queen's biggest hits.

The contestants performed such Queen classics as 'Killer Queen', 'Somebody To Love', 'Bohemian Rhapsody', and 'Another One Bites The Dust', among others.

Fans had until November 28th to vote to determine the 21 finalists (6 vocalists, 6 guitarists, 3 drummers, 3 bassists and 3 keyboard players with Taylor picking an additional five wildcard finalists).

Sacha Baron Cohen's Freddie Mercury biopic may be released under the title Mercury, producer Graham King has told Digital Spy.

King, who worked with Cohen on the Martin Scorsese 3D family film Hugo, also revealed that he hopes to begin production on the Queen movie in 2012.

"I can tell you the working title is Mercury. Whether that ends up being the title of the movie we're not sure yet," King said.
