Australia's Triple M recently conducted an interview with drummer Matt Sorum (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES, THE CULT). In the interview Sorum talks about his last days with GUNS N’ ROSES. An Excerpt from the interview is below:

Matt Sorum on Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose: “Axl was always trying to push the envelope. Even with Use Your Illusions I & II we moved forward. People always go back to Appetite For Destruction, but if you look at the Use Your Illusions it was an epic undertaking.

Axl wanted to be this epic stadium supergroup. He looked at bands like QUEEN, LED ZEPPELIN and THE ROLLING STONES as the benchmark for that. So we created these opuses, these epic numbers like ‘November Rain’.

When we went into the next record Axl wanted to take it to another level and experiment with electronics. He was really into NIN and we were [becoming] uncomfortable with the musical direction.

At that point we had written a bunch of songs more like Appetite For Destruction that were more stripped down raw rock n' roll. We almost wanted to go back to our roots. But Axl was really pushing to go someplace else.

He was so obsessed with where the music was going. I remember there was four or five years of rehearsals and Axl came in and said 'I think we got one good verse.’"

On April 14th, 2012, Guns N' Roses will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.

Sorum recently appeared on Australia's The Morning Show. In the clip below, after a 60 second advertsiement, he states, "Congratulations to myself, I guess. It's just amazing that we're still here, and still alive. We had such wild times and we're still here to tell the tale. And all the boys are healthy."
