Norway's CHTON To Release The Devil Builds Album; Part Ways With Vocalist Terje
March 5, 2012, 12 years ago
Norwegian death metallers CHTON have returned from the living dead with their sophomore album, The Devil Builds, and are now looking for a label to help release it. The album features 10 tracks of dark and brutal death metal metal drenched in occult horror.
The Devil Builds was recorded and produced at Morningstar Studio with Arnt Obsidian Grønbech (KEEP OF KALESSIN, SATYRICON) at the helm, and mixed by Stamos Koliousis (DJERV, MENCEA) at 2010 Studio in Berlin, known for earlier work with among others VRIED, STONEGARD and FUNERAL.
Chton got their name around in the death metal underground with the release of their debut album, Chtonian Lifecode (Retribute Records 2004), sharing the stage with bands like MORBID ANGEL, MAYHEM, AMON AMARTH, BEHEMOTH and many others, and got a lot of press attention and mentions by the likes of late BBC Radio1 legend John Peel and Fenriz of DARKTHRONE.
Chton is set to play the 2012 Inferno Festival on April 4th at the club Blå with HEADSPIN and MANIFEST.
Commented lead guitarist and founding member Øyvind: "Chton is very exited to return to the stage with full force, and we're working on a tour that will bring our rotten blasphemies to places we've never been with this band!"
Chton is now a 4-piece as vocalist Terje has chosen to leave the band after the recording of The Devil Builds. Bassist Ola now handles main vocals.
Commented Terje: "After 10 years as vocalist in Chton I have decided to leave the band. We are all good friends and the only reason for me leaving is that I wish to move on and do something else. As a last effort in the the band I have done all the main vocals on the forthcoming album, The Devil Builds. We all feel that we have managed to capture the raw and old school feeling of death metal on this album and this is what Chton is all about!"
