Adopt The Arts, a charity dedicated to preserving the arts in schools and founded by drummer Matt Sorum (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES, THE CULT), will host a kick off event hosted by Glee’s Jane Lynch at The Sofitel Hotel in West Hollywood on Sunday March 18, sit-down dinner followed by a performance from THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN in the hotel's Stone Rose Lounge, which includes Sorum, Donovan Leitch, Steve Stevens and Billy Morrison (BILLY IDOL’s band) and Mark McGrath (ex-SUGAR RAY, host of many shows and Extra correspondent). Special musical guests will be invited up to the stage to perform with the band.

According to Matt Sorum, “Adopt The Arts has become the most important thing I am involved in. It is so important that we don't let the arts and music disappear in our public elementary schools. Our kids need this outlet. This is an epidemic that will become a social and economic problem down the line.

“Scientific studies have proven kids with creative outlets in elementary programs are 52% more likely to go on to college. The event I am throwing March 18 at Sofitel Los Angeles is an awareness builder, and the first time many artists will be able to have all the information with this problem and what they can do to help. They will be able to rub elbows with the many school board members who will be attending. In a short period of time I have assembled a worthy and inspired advisory board of Academy, Emmy and Grammy award-winning artists. We will Adopt as many schools as possible and bring a solution to this tragic problem.”

Confirmed celebrity guests thus far include Jane Lynch, Matt Sorum, John Stamos, Mark McGrath, Johnathan Schaech, and Michael Wincott.

There will be a Silent Auction, with the following items donated thus far: Three signed guitars by Billy Corgan (SMASHING PUMPKINS), SLASH, The Veronicas and Velvet Revolver; one Fender Stratocaster signed by Rockstars, one custom made guitar worth $5,000.00, two luxury Mexican vacations, one weekend at the Beverly Hills Peninsula Hotel, five signed Shepard Fairey signed prints, three signed Matt Sorum fine art pieces, signed Aerosmith memorabilia, Gene Kirkland signed rock star photographs, METALLICA memorabilia, John Varvatos leather items, Andrew Charles clothing items, Beats headphones, and more. The event is open to the public.
