Sonisphere Knebworth 2012 To Be Cancelled?
March 28, 2012, 12 years ago
According to VirtualFestivals.com, rumors are circulating online about the future of Sonisphere Knebworth 2012. A statement is expected tomorrow about the fate of this year’s festival, which is due to take place at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire from July 6th - 8th.
KISS, QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT and FAITH NO MORE were announced as this year’s headliners last month, but rumours began spreading this morning that the festival would now be cancelled, allegedly because of poor ticket sales.
The rumour began to gain credence on Twitter and Facebook, and the administrator of Queen’s official forum promised an “update on the Sonisphere show coming in the next day or so.”
This afternoon, all mention of the Knebworth show has disappeared from Queen’s website.
A statement on Sonisphere by the group also appeared on the site, before being hastily deleted. It began: "It is with heavy hearts and much regret that we announce the cancellation of Sonisphere Knebworth 2012."
