April 13, 2012, 12 years ago
According to DEEP PURPLE fan-site Darker Than Blue, legendary producer Bob Ezrin (PINK FLOYD, KISS, ALICE COOPER, PETER GABRIEL) will produce the band's upcoming studio album. Guitarist Steve Morse was speaking with the French version of Rock Hard and it appears that Deep Purple are now quite serious in following up 2005's Rapture Of The Deep.
Redbeard is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Deep Purple's Machine Head's for his syndicated rock radio program In The Studio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands.
Machine Head is often cited as influential in the development of the heavy metal. It is Deep Purple's most successful recording, topping the charts in several countries following its release and including such band staples as 'Smoke on the Water', 'Highway Star' and 'Space Truckin''
The album reached number 1 in the United Kingdom and stayed in the top 40 for 20 weeks. It reached number 7 in the United States, remaining on the Billboard 200 for 118 weeks.
The program will air the broadcast week of April 16th on their 50 station affiliates in the US and can be streamed on In The Studio's website.
