NIGHTWISH - New Installment Of Nightmail Fan Q&A Available
May 6, 2012, 12 years ago
Finland's NIGHTWISH re-opened their Nightmail Q&A; column back in February. An new installment for May featuring columns from Anette Olzon, Tuomas Holopainen, Marco Hietala and Jukka Nevalainen is available here.
Two excerpts are available below:
Q: Now that you have experience in recording with Nightwish, was the process smoother? And how much influence did you have in the writing of the new album, musically or lyrically?
Olzon: "It was easier this time in many ways. First of all, since I wasnt the new singer this time and didnt have to be nervous in the studio and feeling the 'pressure' of making a fool of myself;=) Also, the songs were made for me this time and Tuomas had gotten to know my vocal range and where I find it easier to sing and also the album are more in the musical and theatrical way of singing now which is more my style. Regarding the writing of the album, I didn't have any input and that´s mainly because in the band Tuomas is our songwriter and comes up with the ideas and the songs. Then the arrangement process are done with everyone in the band but due to me having my baby the guys had to arrange this album themselves."
Q: Since Imaginaerum is such an opus, such amazing work, will this be the end of Nightwish? Or do you have any idea, how you will create the next album?
Holopainen: "Definitely not the end. We all have quite a good idea of what the next album will be about. You don`t need to go bigger and bigger with each album, the key is to find a new hook, or challenge with everything you create."
As previously reported, on August 8th, Nightwish will debut their Imaginaerum feature film to fans with a special showing at the Hartwell Arena. The 11,000 capacity arena has hosted previous Nightwish live gigs, but this would be the largest movie premier in Finnish history.
Nightwish recently released the first trailer for the Imaginaerum movie, a music fantasy film based on the Nightwish album of the same name, and it's 13 songs.
