SAVATAGE Comic Almost Materialized In 1994

According to Keith Wilkins from Examiner.com, San Diego-based Revolutionary Comics (publisher of Rock ‘N’ Roll Comics, Hard Rock Comics) had plans of publishing a SAVATAGE/WHITE ZOMBIE comic book back in 1994. Scheduled to be issue #24 of Hard Rock Comics, the issue was to feature a straight biography of Savatage, written and drawn in comic book form. The Savatage/White Zombie comic book is even listed in the pre-order list that appeared in a couple of later issues of both Rock ‘N’ Roll and Hard Rock Comic books. Unfortunately the issue never was written or published, due to the Hard Rock Comics line ending after issue #20.
Jay Allen Sanford from Revolutionary Comics recalls: "Spike Steffenhagen (Hard Rock Comics) and I were huge Savatage fans, with me favoring Gutter Ballet and him into the Streets album. I have a vague memory of starting a Savatage script, but I don't think any art was done for the cover."
According to Wikipedia, Rock 'N' Roll Comics, launched in 1989 and was founded by publisher Todd Loren. The line featured unlicensed biographies of rock stars, told in comic book form but geared for adults, often with very adult situations (nudity, drug use, violence, etc.). Some musicians featured in the comics, like FRANK ZAPPA and KISS, were supportive; while others like SKID ROW, BON JOVI and MÖTLEY CRÜE sued.
