COREY TAYLOR Featured In New BBC Radio 1 Interview
July 22, 2012, 12 years ago
Vocalist Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR) is featured in a new interview conducted by Zane Lowe for the UK's BBC Radio 1. Check it out below:
ArtistDirect.com editor-in-chief Rick Florino recently caught up with Taylor. During the interview he discussed the new song 'Taciturn', which Taylor has been performing acoustically on the road:
"That song translates so well acoustically. When I wrote 'Taciturn', I knew it was something that could go either way. It could be a full band piece or it could be something I could play on my own. If I was going to give the people a first taste of what House Of Gold And Bones parts 1 and 2 are going to be, 'Taciturn' is a nice way to give them a cool picture of it even in a stripped-down sense. That song is essentially about trust. It's about trying to find the courage to open up to the people you care about, love, and value, knowing that they're going to be there to catch you when it all comes down. They're going to be there for you when nobody else is. It's about letting go of the anchors that hold you down in life, opening yourself up and saying, 'If you're there for me, I'll be there for you. You've just got to give me a second'."Stone Sour are gearing up to release their double-concept album, House Of Gold And Bones. Part One is due in October, with Part Two expected next year.
Taylor states: "The new Stone Sour album is a two-part double concept album called House Of Gold And Bones (HoGaB), parts 1 and 2. Part 1 will drop in Oct ’12, Part 2 will drop next year. Twenty-four songs, 12 on each disc. Each disc will include one half of the story - for lyrics, you’ll have to go to our site. Once I lock in the company who will help me put it together, there will be a comic book as well. Song titles include 'Absolute Zero', 'RU486', 'A Rumor of Skin' and 'Taciturn'. Very excited for everyone to hear it! Stay tuned!"
Taylor has posted a sample of the story for the album concept below:
Rand also shared some details about the album's lyrical and storytelling narrative, saying, "Lyrically, the album follows one character to that complex moment in his life, when he finally has to decide which path to take. It's a spiritual and moral power play for control of what this man will be for the rest of his life. Each song will tell the story from different sides of the character's personality, with the listener ultimately deciding how the story ends."
In the following video interview with The Backstage Beat, SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan reveals that he is in the midst of recording the new Stone Sour album. Bolan has finished 18 songs with five more to go.
