August 3, 2012, 12 years ago
Czech Republic news source Blesk.cz are reporting that LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe has been released from the Czech prison he's been holed up in for over a month on manslaughter charges.
Blythe was released yesterday, Thursday, August 2nd, and boarded a flight today at 1 PM (CEST), expected to land in New York this afternoon.
Blythe was held in custody after being arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by Czech police at the Prague airport on Wednesday, June 27th. It is alleged that during a May 24th, 2010 Lamb Of God concert, Blythe pushed a 19-year-old fan, who had climbed onstage, back into the audience. The fan lapsed into a coma and died of a bleeding in the brain fourteen days later.
“I can confirm that Blythe was released yesterday afternoon,” said Gabriela Pohlová, a spokeswoman for the prison. Court spokeswoman Martina Lhotáková added, “The decision was reached yesterday at the end of a closed session. The only condition of release was the approximately 8 million Czech Koruna bail ($400,000).”Lamb of God recently had to cancel their summer tour with Dethklok and Gojira, as Blythe’s impending release continued to remain an uncertainty.
Blythe will be expected to return to Prague for trial at a later date. Stay tuned for further updates.
