IMMOLATION Talk Death And Black Metal - "I Think We All Came From The Same Starting Point"; Video Interview Posted

MetalSerbia.com has issued a video interview with IMMOLATION's Ross Dolan and Bob Vigna, conducted on September 12th, prior to band's concert in Belgrade, Serbia as a part of the Serpent Sermon tour with MARDUK.
When asked if he agrees with the opinion that the divide between death and black metal is artificial and that these styles are simply two sides of the same coin, Ross said, "I think so. Because if you really look at it, we all came from the same roots. We were all inspired by the same bands. If you talk to us, or the guys from Marduk, the IMMORTAL guys, to AVERSE SEFIRA, whoever you talk to, we all were inspired by the same bands. It's just different interpretations. We took that and we all went in our own directions. But it's all extreme metal, it's all very dark. I've heard people saying that we kind of crossed the boundaries between death metal and black metal, and if I had to put us in a genre, I would definitely consider us death metal, but I can see where we could appeal to black metal, our sound is very unorthodox for death metal, definitely very dissonant, very dark, and very bleak. So I definitely understand that connection, and I agree with that, I think we all came from the same starting point, so it makes sense."
Immolation recently entered Sound Studios in Millbrook, NY with longtime producer Paul Orofino to record their ninth full-length album. The follow up to their 2010 release Majesty And Decay, will once again be mixed and mastered by Zack Ohren (ALL SHALL PERISH, DECREPIT BIRTH, SUFFOCATION).
Once again we went up to Millbrook, NY to do the main tracking. Paul Orofino got us some of the best sounds we've had yet! We were there for two weeks laying down tracks, having amazing Belgian beers at Paul’s in house bar BarFunGul, as well as plenty of BBQing! Throughout the time we were there we got through one blackout and dodged a very intense storm system that had the potential to cut our recording session real short. Luckily everything worked out. We still have to add some last touches on to the songs etc., as well as have Zack Ohren mix and master it all but so far everything is off to a great start.
Be certain that this new album will surely be one of our strongest yet. We look forward to getting it all finished up soon and getting it out there as soon as possible for the fans!"
