On October 27th, Canadian singer/guitarist/producer DEVIN TOWNSEND launched his biggest accomplishments to date: The Retinal Circus. Taking place at London's historic Roundhouse venue, this one-night only extravaganza was sold out for over a year. It was filmed for both DVD and Blu-Ray, and is likely to be released sometime in the second quarter 2013 via InsideOutMusic.

During the show, the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT performed a couple STRAPPING YOUNG LAD songs with SYL guitarist Jed Simon on stage as a guest. It was the first time in years Townsend had performed Strapping material. Check some footage out below:

Simon posted the following message online after the gig:

"Well, all done and the cat is out of the bag. It was an awesome experience and my heart feels that much better because of it. You are my brother and my friend, Dev. Thank you. Byron (Stroud) and Gene (Hoglan), you were on my sleeve, my brothers. I love you."

Townsend originally described the Retinal Circus as: "a retrospective of my career in music to date, with the central theme being a metaphor of how life and the adventures therein are a 'circus' of sorts. The show involves a cast of characters and guests that support this theme through carnival type performances. A story about how a troubled young man dreams of fantastic scenarios, (illustrated through the music of my back catalogue), which ultimately crests in the characters realization that life is all about the relationships we have with each other. This is the first opportunity I have been given to make theatrical representations of my music."
