This super rare video interview of late DEEP PURPLE keyboard icon Jon Lord has just surfaced from Canadian TV from April 1969 discussing music and culture in Britain versus North America. Deep Purple was touring in support of the The Book Of Taliesyn (released October 1968) on some dates supporting CREAM. Deep Purple had already achieved moderate success on their 1968 debut album Shades of Deep Purple. The JOE SOUTH cover of 'Hush' track became the group's first hit single peaking at number 4 on the Hot 100 on 21-28 September 1968 and number 2 in Canada while going largely unnoticed in the United Kingdom. The Book Of Taliesyn saw the band cover NEIL DIAMOND's 'Kentucky Woman' and 'River Deep – Mountain High' which was a hit for IKE & TINA TURNER in 1966.
