Metal XS has released its 15th episode last Thursday featuring interviews with BLAZE BAYLEY (WOLFSBANE, ex-IRON MAIDEN), LIVING COLOUR and THE DARKNESS.
Blaze Bayley talks about his new acoustic album Russian Holiday: “The new album is about experiences I had in Russia as a serial killer ! (Laugh) It’s a classical album, with a classical guitar and some violin… It has some older songs on it which I’ve taken from previous albums and reworked, and it’s got a new song which is “Russian Holiday”. My voice feels now like it has reached a peak and I can use a lot more nuances and inflexions to tell the story of a song, something I could not do when I was younger.”
Living Colour's Doug Wimbish talks about their upcoming album that is to be expected this year, as the fans have been waiting since 2009: “Well we’ve just been waiting for the right moment, getting ourselves in places that has something to say instead of just putting something out. We’re in the process of making a record right now, we started recording January, our goal is to put a record together this year and when it’s ready, put it out !”
Justin Hawkins and Ed Graham from The Darkness look back in their return after a five years hiatus with their new album Hot Cakes: “We’re happy to be natural, I think we all believe that if it doesn’t happen naturally you can’t force it. We don’t over rehearse things, we try to keep things a bit in the moment, so hopefully that comes across in the record. (…) When we just started off we were just 4 men, we had a few people around us who really believed in us but we were doing something that was quite unfashionable really… When we became megasuccessful I think it was like the whole world was pulling at us and get “Oh you’re brilliant, you’re brilliant !” and it all fell apart. But now, the world doesn’t like us anymore, so we’re much stronger, our relationships are really powerful and we get on really well, it’s strong and unbreakable.”
