Rock Overdose's Zisis Petkanas recently spoke with Todd La Torre, the new singer of Seattle progressive metal veterans QUEENSRŸCHE. During the chat, La Torre states that the release of the new album is a very exciting time for the whole band, a very honest collaboration of the five members writing the album, while he has been able to fulfill his dreams and his passions with Queensrÿche, since he was a fan ever since he was kid.

In his opinion he has a rustier voice comparing to former vocalist GEOFF TATE, he likes to do some heavy things, like growling, elements he incorporates in live performances. He also talked to Scott Rockenfield about introducing a new drum set in the future, allowing La Torre to play the drums also, to do something creative in the live performances.

On the subject of the legal issue with the name of the band, he says Geoff Tate was the vocalist for 30 years, but on the other hand all the other members were equally the reason for the success of Queensrÿche, and in what concerns the legal battle between the two bands, he thinks that there are three members of the original band against a single one (Geoff Tate), but in the end it will be settled in Court.

La Torre seems very happy with the production team and the booking agencies, and thinks that everybody likes the direction where Queensrÿche is going. All the band is focused on writing new songs and bringing back the style that consecrated the band, and feels the band has a bright future.

The full interview will be published soon.

Queensrÿche have been invited to throw out the first pitch at Seattle Mariners' home game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, on June 26th. Bassist Eddie Jackson will represent the band on the mound.

5. The band will receive the questions and pick which ones to respond to under the username of “Queensryche” on the forum themselves, or in the case of Todd La Torre, likely under his own account.

6. A new separate chat thread (not this one, but another sticky thread in the Operation IV section of the forum) will be locked throughout the chat so the questions and answers can get posted easier, but will be unlocked for commentary after the chat concludes.

Note: Fans should feel free to start a separate conversation thread during the chat. Moderators will merge/archive it with the actual chat thread once the chat has completed.
