hot flashes news the cult

On July 30th, Beggars Archive will release the two-disc album from THE CULT entitled Electric Peace, which pairs up the band's Electric with the scrapped Peace album. The tracks featured on Peace were released as Electric b-sides, The Manor Sessions EP, and the Rare Cult box set from 2000 which hasn't been available for 13 years.

The Cult's diehard fans are aware that Peace is in fact the album that became Electric. By the end of October 1986, the album was recorded, the masters assembled, but the band weren't happy with the final results, which seemed too polished. Appreciating the rawness of RUN-D.M.C.'s 'Walk This Way', the band contacted producer Rick Rubin to remix the lead track, 'Love Removal Machine'. Rubin agreed to work with the band but only on condition that the track was entirely re-recorded. The result was a sparse, dry, riffing version that captured the sonic excitement the band were looking for. Enthused by the results, the decision was made to abandon the expensive Peace recordings and re-record the entire album in New York with Rick Rubin. The new tracks would become The Cult's third album, re-titled Electric, and a multi-million seller.

The Electric Peace tracklist is as follows:

Electric:

'Wild Flower'

'Peace Dog'

'Lil' Devil'

'Aphrodisiac Jacket'

'Electric Ocean'

'Bad Fun'

'King Contrary Man'

'Love Removal Machine'

'Born To Be Wild'

'Outlaw'

Vocalist Ian Astbury commented, "The Cult's life blood has always been playing live, we are between albums and decided to continue the momentum created by Choice Of Weapon, stay in people's hearts and minds. As Love Live was such an incredible experience we have decided that performing the Electric album, an event that has been demanded by our fans and followers as the perfect live set to play in 2013."
