KAMELOT Drummer Casey Grillo - "Silverthorn Is My Favorite Kamelot CD To Date"
June 23, 2013, 11 years ago
KAMELOT drummer Casey Grillo is featured in a new interview with The Drum Circle. An excerpt is available below:
The Drum Circle: Anyone watching you would never be able to tell which songs you play are your personal favorites. What are some of your favorite Kamelot songs to drum, including, of course, on your new Silverthorn album?
Casey: "Thanks for the nice words. I love playing 'Torn'—great song. I have also been playing 'Solitaire' in some drum clinics. That song is so much fun to play. For me, Silverthorn is my favorite Kamelot CD to date."
The Drum Circle: You have a new vocalist on this album. Is your new lead singer, Tommy Karevik, a big reason why Silverthorn is your favorite Kamelot album?
Casey: "Tommy is one factor for that reason. Silverthorn has so many great songs. Tommy’s melody lines and lyrics are just amazing. Having new blood in the band makes us want to tour and do things together. Tommy is such a great guy and becoming a great friend to each of us. The future is looking great!"
The Drum Circle: Were there any songs on the Silverthorn album that were especially challenging for you to choose and/or play the drums parts?
Casey: "Not really hard to play. Everything is straightforward on the drum parts. I think the fastest song is around 172 bpm, so nothing too fast, just some endurance, and when you get fired up in front of a crowd that’s not a problem. As for picking the songs, we would have loved to have done the entire CD (laughs)."
