SATYRICON are set to play a handful of UK and Irish dates, in support of their forthcoming eponymous album. Satyricon is pencilled for a September 8th European/September 9th UK release via Roadrunner Records and will be the revered and ground breaking band's eighth studio album.

Satryricon have always excelled live, delivering powerful and evocative performances, spearheaded by charismatic frontman and visionary, Satyr. Speaking about the band's new album and return to the live fray in the UK, Satyr comments: "We are back! Sorry it took so long, but we needed the time to be able pull off a record like this. Comparing this one to previous records is time wasted, it is Satyricon; constantly on the move. Naming this record 'Satyricon' was the most obvious thing in the world. We have never done a record which captures the spirit of this band in such a way. Ever. It will demand a lot from you as a listener, but I know you will love it. It will grow on you and that is why it will stay with you forever. We won't tour as much in the future as we used to, and that will just make every tour more special. This album and this tour is for you and ourselves. It is our moment!"

Satyricon was produced by Satyr and recorded in their native Norway, and mixed by Adam Kasper.

Satyricon dates are as follows:

November

10 - Manchester, UK - Academy 3
11 - Belfast, Ireland - Limelight
12 - Dublin, Ireland - Button Factory
14 - London, UK - O2 Academy Islington

Satyricon recently announce a very special, exclusive show at Oslo’s Norwegian National Opera House on September 8th, where they will perform together with Norway's 55-strong National Opera Chorus.

The special event is part of the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, and fans of both Satyricon and the National Opera Chorus can look forward to a very unique and exciting evening.

Satyricon's leader and visionary, Satyr comments: "Satyricon excels as a band, the bigger the platform is. In Norway, there is no greater stage than the main hall of our new Opera House. There is nowhere better suited to provide the dynamics, power and authenticity to such an occasion than the Opera Choir and Satyricon. To us, there is no better way to celebrate with our fans that we are back with our first album in five years. We are also excited to have a couple of special musical friends come and play their part as well. Ladies and gentlemen - welcome!"

The Opera Chorus’ lead conductor, David Maiwald adds: "Mixing different musical expressions is always exciting. When the internationally acclaimed black metal band Satyricon meets the voluminous voices of the Norwegian National Opera Chorus, we expect a powerful and monumental result, rich in innovative surprises."
