Chris Buck and Sally Ann Evans are to fly to Arizona to participate in the Rock N 2 Remember benefit show that will raise funds for various charities that are responding to the Yarnell Fire in which 19 Prescott fire fighters lost their lives.
"We are thrilled that Chris and Sally Ann are going to come and play," says co-organiser Alan Sinclair of the Wildland Fire Fighter department. "That's incredible support and generosity of spirit."BUCK & EVANS have a direct connection to Prescott, Arizona, where the event will take place - its home to their record label Tru-B-Dor, a new independent label started by Heather Vincent-Niven and Alan Niven, (GUNS N' ROSES, GREAT WHITE, HAVANA BLACK, CLARENCE CLEMONS, THE ANGELS, etc)
"Alan and Heather sent us pictures of the two fires that threatened Prescott earlier this summer," says Sally Ann. "When we heard they were helping with this benefit, of course we offered to jump in."The benefit, "is a community event driven by community artists in response to a community need," says Vincent-Niven. "Chris has been here enough times to be adopted by the musicians of the community. And SLASH is one step removed from being a Prescottonian. He and Alan have been friends since 1986."
Chris said: "It’s absolutely incredible to be invited to be part of this. A truly humbling experience."
Sally Ann added: "It’s a real compliment, a very proud moment for us both; one that I’m sure will stay with us forever. Towns all around the world have teams of fire fighters at the heart of their community and everyone probably knows a fire fighter in their home town. I’ve been speaking to members of my local fire station in Ebbw Vale and they are keen to send a special message to the families and fire station in Prescott.’
The event takes place on Sunday, August 25th at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds in the centre of the town.
