According to The Associated Press, work on a memorial to the 100 people who died in a 2003 fire when pyrotechnics for GREAT WHITE ignited flammable foam inside the club has begun.

On Wednesday (September 18th) a crew began erecting a fence around the perimeter of the West Warwick, Rhode Island site where the Station nightclub once sat. In the decade since the February 20, 2003 fire, a makeshift memorial of homemade crosses and other mementos of those who died has marked the site.

The foundation working to build the memorial park estimates it will be completed next year.
