LOUNA Launch Video For 'Up There'
October 7, 2013, 11 years ago
Female-fronted Russian hard rockers LOUNA have released their brand new, eye-opening music video for the track ‘Up There’, cut from their most recent full-length release, Behind A Mask.
‘Up There’ is intended to enlighten the listener, inviting them to question their surroundings and society. The lyrics of the track mirror the imagery in the video - people of all classes, ages and backgrounds - staring at the sky while nothing but rain pours down on them. People just waiting for a sign, a change, an answer - looking to the clouded sky for help, for light. But sadly, there is no answer. No one there to answer their calls and their cries. The people dream of a better day, but there is no end in sight to the constant oppression, violence, manipulation and deceit being fed to them by those who wish to control them.
The music video is directed by Svyatoslav Podgaevsky with STG Cinema.
Louna recently released a new lyric video, for the band’s track ‘Fight Club’, also cut from Behind A Mask.
The lyric video includes exclusive live performance footage of the band at Milk in Moscow, Russia, giving all they’ve got to a massive crowd of fans (this also happens to be the shoot location of the band’s Live Concert DVD Box Set and MTV’s upcoming documentary Rebel Music, which Louna is featured in). The lyric video was edited by Alex Yelagin of Headshot Video and directed by Travis Leake.
Front-woman Lou Gevorkian states, “‘Fight Club’ is our way of telling people that together we can change the system and make the government fear us, instead of the other way around. You must BECOME the pain. It's not enough to change the system if you want to build something new, you have to be strong enough to break something inside of yourself so that you can build something newer and better for the future. Before you can build something new, you have to destroy the old. This was the idea of the book Fight Club and it's the same theme of this song.”
Louna recently announced their first ever US tour, with THE PRETTY RECKLESS and HEAVEN'S BASEMENT, hitting 26 US cities this fall. The tour kicked off on September 25th in Jacksonville, FL and comes to a close in Washington, D.C. on November 3rd.
The band released a personal video to fans announcing their involvement in the tour. The video discusses the band's excitement to perform for fans in the United States, and also discusses how they are pleased to come to the states to show American fans that outside of all of the oppression and discrimination going on in Russia right now, there are good, real people that want to spread a message of peace and bring people together.
"This is the first time that a major rock band from Russia has visited America since the 1980's," states frontwoman Lousine Gevorkian. "We're happy to visit 26 cities with The Pretty Reckless and our new friends in Heaven's Basement and to play our music to you, because we're a band that wants to sing about peace, wants to sing about love, wants to sing about freedom, friendship, and no wars, no pain and no discrimination."Remaining tour dates:
