Greece-based Rock Overdose recently caught up with DEATH ANGEL guitarist Rob Cavestany to discuss the band's new album, The Dream Calls For Blood. An excerpt is available below:

Q: How much time did it take from the beginning to the end to complete it?

Rob: "Well, this album was very difficult for us to create and it was a very interesting experience. We were on tour for our last album for a very long time, we toured for Relentless Retribution for three years! Three years is a long time if you're constantly on the road, we've been touring for all our lives but never for three years in a row like that. So, I started basically writing this album when we were on tour and most of the music when we were on tour. It is something I haven't done before. I bring music on tour and some songs but not this much of an album when we are on road so this was different, because usually we finish the whole writiing process at home, rest for a while and catch your breath, and by the time you start writing the next album you're kind of relaxed a little bit from that state of mind you're in when you're on tour. In this case we did that on purpose, we wanted to see how it would be if we did two albums in a row without taking any break."

"We created this album with all the energy and all the feelings and the emotions we had on tour, so that's what happened and even the recording of this album. We returned from our last show and three days later I was in a recording studio to do the album, so we never lied down from being on tour, so the excitement and the great feeling of playing live and the energy of the crowd and everything, plus the other bands when we were touring has affected us in the creation of this album. We were touring with amazing bands like TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX, SEPULTURA, KREATOR, EXODUS and we hanged out with all these great musicians so we were in a high state of mind musically and creating music in that state of mind I think it's entirely different than when you are at home. It is completely different. And on top of that when we were on tour we started playing our first album The Ultra-Violence because it was the 25th anniversary of that album so we started playing that whole record from the beginning to the end and I knew that when we were playing our first album it would also influence the writing of the new record, kinda pretty old-school straightforward thrash we played back then. So, a long answer, I guess! You know, it took around a year from the beginning to the end from writing to completing the album because we were writing it on bits when we were on the road, so when we finally home we focused in the last courple of months to finish all the preproduction and the writing. So, it kinda came pretty fast."
