Guitarist Chris Impellitteri (IMPELLITTERI, ANIMETAL USA) has checked in with the following update:

"I have officially been told by our management that Animetal will now be signed to Warner Bros. Additionally, we are going to go into the studio hopefully in early 2014 to start recording the next Animetal record. I will also be recording a new Impellitteri record during this time as well - for the more serious fans of our brand of metal.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with Animetal please use caution when judging.. ha ha! Please note, Animetal is a project that features me on guitar, Rudy Sarzo on bass, Mike Vescera on vocals, and Jon Dette on drums (the great Scott Travis from JUDAS PRIEST recorded the drums on our first Animetal record).

For those of you that are unfamiliar with Animetal, here is a quick overview:

Animetal blends famous Anime themes with both original and cover versions of well known heavy metal songs. This project is a lot of fun and hopefully will continue to bring metal influences to a new generation of Anime fans and kids around the world. Here is a link I found on youtube that has one of our Animetal songs where we blend the riff of Black Sabbath's 'The Mob Rules' with the famous Animation song titled 'Cats Eye'. Of course most of the music features original metal riffs mixed with Anime story line lyrics, and I get to totally shred during the guitar solo which is always a lot of fun for us guitar players! Have a listen and then send it to your kids... ha ha!

Cheers!"

During an interview with BraveWords scribe Carl Begai about the new OBSESSION album, Order Of Chaos, vocalist Michael Vescera discussed Animetal USA:

“It really took off in Japan and we did every major TV show and mag over there. It was crazy. We did all the big morning shows, it was just nuts. All the original anime creators and singers and voice actors really love us, and they consider us the ambassadors of anime for the rest of the world.”

Sony Music Japan continues to invest serious time and money in the band, with plans to have Animetal USA back in action at “home” in 2013. Still, Vescera hope to branch out beyond Japan’s borders in the coming year.

“The nice thing about being on a big label is that they’re big budget records. It’s kind of like back in the day in terms of production and all that. It’s helped with the Obsession thing, too. You never know what’s going to happen because it’s such a weird time musically. There aren’t very many gigs anymore. At one time I was getting offers from everywhere in the world, and now everyone is paying for their records themselves and nobody’s touring. We were really fortunate with Animetal USA and having a deal with a major label.”
