Ex-BUDGIE guitarist Tony Bourge has released two new self-penned tracks as a digital double A single.

‘Sailing’ is a rollicking heavy rocker in which Bourge draws an analogy between pirates and rock bands chasing gold. “It’s about an adventure,” Bourge says. “I love all the old pirate films with Errol Flynn and Gregory Peck. Setting sail on the motorway searching for gold in a hull of steel – the nearest I got was setting off in the Budgie van with Burke Shelley and Ray Phillips.”

‘Stargazer’ draws on Bourge’s blues and rock ’n’ roll roots, showcasing his knack for capturing guitar tones that fit the material like a glove. “The ancient Egyptians used to sit in a place inside the Great Pyramid and as the Earth turned they would map the stars as they went by. The stargazers are out there looking right now. It’s just as well you can’t hear anything in space. There would be hell to pay about the noise being made up there – some of it by yours truly; Tony Bourge, Stargazer.”

In 2013, Bourge returned 35 years after leaving Budgie with not one but two albums – the 20-track Crank It Up and the 10-track Chilling Out.

Samples of ‘Sailing’ and ‘Stargazer’ can be heard on iTunes.
