BAD COMPANY - Desolation Angels 35th Anniversary Celebrated On InTheStudio

North American syndicated rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the 35th anniversary of BAD COMPANY’s 1979 comeback album, Desolation Angels.
With their self-titled debut album five years earlier, Bad Company had become one of the essential bands of the ‘70s, a super-group made up of ex-MOTT THE HOOPLE guitarist Mick Ralphs, KING CRIMSON bass player Boz Burrell, and FREE alumni singer/songwriter Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke. But by 1977 the endless tours had taken their toll, and the band’s disappointing Burnin’ Sky album proved to be a career wake-up call. After a two year hiatus Bad Company re-emerged in 1979 with the album Desolation Angels and their strongest batch of songs since their debut, including the popular 'Rock’n’Roll Fantasy', 'Oh Atlanta' and 'Gone, Gone, Gone'.
Paul Rodgers shares with InTheStudio host Redbeard what impact their time off had on the success of Desolation Angels: ”We took our time and made a good album. Even the cover reflects care and attention to detail and it all counts.... All of the guys in Bad Company were professional musicians who loved what they did. We wanted, at all times, to make a great album and I think (Desolation Angels) is the result of being rested and it reflects in the freshness of the feel.”
