Long Beach, California's RIVAL SONS have announced an exclusive vinyl to celebrate this year's Record Store Day in the UK. The limited edition release will come on 7" green vinyl, and will feature two brand new recordings - 'Electric Man' and 'Belle Starr' - both of which are set to appear on the band's new album.

Guitarist Scott Holiday comments: "Ever since this band started we've been very focused on releasing everything we do on vinyl and making sure it's a special kind of presentation in this format. At home that's pretty much all I listen to (vinyl), so I'm pretty focused about how we do it. As many have, we've also made it a point to always contribute something extra cool to RSD (Record Store Day). Last year for RSD we did one of my all-time favorite releases (of ours) - the Manifest Destiny limited edition on 10" picture disc.

"This year we had to approach the Record Store Day release very differently; being as our record comes out a month after RSD we had to treat it a little more like an 'advance' to the album. So if you can get your hands on one of these (dry limited release) you'll get an advance peep into our new record on a limited 7" green vinyl - featuring two of our very favorite tunes off the LP, which in my opinion is the coolest way to introduce the sound of the new album (Great Western Valkyrie). Just remember… records are for listening, not displaying on shelves or hoarding fifteen copies, and then selling 'em later for 10x the amount. That's lame. Buy one and listen till your heart's content. Spread the love."

Founded in 2007, Record Store Day takes place on the third Saturday of April each year, bringing together artists and independently-owned record stores to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and sold in independent stores around the world. Rival Sons recently revealed the title of their forthcoming new album as Great Western Valkyrie.

Great Western Valkyrie was recorded with producer Dave Cobb at LCS Studios in Nashville earlier this year, and is due to be released on June 6th in Europe, June 9th in the UK and June 10th in North America.

Frontman Jay Buchanan comments: "Every time we set out to make a record, the experience ends up being some of the old and some of the new. Same studio, same town, same on-spot writing/recording process with the same guys. Actually, not the same guys; we have a new bass player in Dave Beste, and we had my buddy Ikey Owens (THE MARS VOLTA, JACK WHITE) throw down some craziness on keys while he was in town.

"I'd like to think we became a little bit more of ourselves making this record and that the selection of influences has broadened a bit. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Miley during the recording; I believe his playing on this record is his most lyrical and musical yet and that's probably a direct reflection of Beste's fresh blood in the mix. Speaking of Beste, whoa. Thunder from his hands all over this album. I think Scott really expanded his approach in these songs and you can definitely hear it in the moodier tracks, while on the hot tracks you can hear him forcing his aviary of Firebirds to drink moonshine. Dangerous. There are some serious house burners on GWV but there are also a couple where thesis dictated more subtlety from the arrangement.

"My performance? I think it's more of the same on my end, but Cobb did tell me that my finest performances were given in these sessions, but what the fuck does he know? They say the truth is in the taste - I'd say this record is the filthy magazine hidden in the hymnal."
