American heavy metal band OBSESSION has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the recording of their new album.
"Finally, with Kickstarter and you, we can make the album we want, the way we want to do it, without any outside influences. If we can hit this goal, we will have just enough to finally make the ultimate Obsession album and release it ourselves!"Obsession has a long history, coming on to the scene with the Metal Massacre II compilation from Metal Blade Records (1982) soon after releasing their first EP Marshall Law (1983) under the Metal Blade Label. the band then went on to sign with Enigma records releasing Scarred For Life (1986) and Methods Of Madness (1987) that spawned the video for the song 'For The Love Of Money' featured on MTV’s Head Bangers Ball.
After three successful Obsession albums, Michael Vescera went on to sing for the Japanese metal band LOUDNESS, releasing the albums Soldier Of Fortune and On The Prowl, as well as the later released DVD Live Loudest-Budokan.
Michael left Loudness after a few years with the band then going on to sing for world renowned Swedish guitar hero YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, appearing on the albums Seventh Sign and Magnum Opus as well as the DVD Live At Budokan. After Yngwie, Mike has been featured as the lead vocalist for JOE STUMP'S REIGN OF TERROR, ROLAND GRAPOW, KILLING MACHINE, and his own successful solo project MVP (Michael Vescera Project), just to name a few.
In 2004 Michael decided to reform his original band Obsession. Joining Michael in the reformation are guitarists John Bruno and Scott Boland to form an incredible lineup of metal talent. Carnival Of Lies was the comeback album released with many label complications, then came the follow-up album Order Of Chaos.
The latest material adds a modern edge and incendiary production while remaining true to the original Obsession sound of blazing vocals and wicked dual guitar work.
"With the current state of the music business, it has been incredibly hard to make and release albums. With dishonest labels and illegal downloads, it is making things extremely difficult to make any money at all. Between that and keeping out any outside influences, we want to release this album ourselves. Please help us to raise the funds to do just that. Thank you so much!"
