Benefit Auction Launched For Family Of Late THE GATES OF SLUMBER Bassist Jason McCash
May 5, 2014, 10 years ago
Nearly a month ago, the metal community lost a brother, a father, a husband, a friend, and a comrade when Jason McCash of Indianapolis doom outfit The Gates Of Slumber passed away at the young age of 37. The entire extended heavy-music family has felt the effects of the tragedy and, in times like this, it's more important than ever that we gather together to help one another and show the love and support we so vehemently stand for.
Ripple Music has a long-standing tradition of donating all proceeds from auctions of its rare test pressings to charity, so when the time came to let go of this beautiful 2XLP test-press copy of Earthen Grave's debut album, it was clear that the money should go to the family of Jason McCash.
For more information, or to bid on this gorgeous, rare test-pressing, head to this location.
The organizers of Days Of The Doomed Fest has released the following statement:
“As many of you know by now, the doom scene lost a dear friend with the passing of Jason McCash this past weekend, former bassist for Indy's doom machine THE GATES OF SLUMBER. Many of you also know that his advice and encouragement was invaluable to me, Mercyful Mike, starting up Days Of The Doomed Fest. To honor his memory, this year's fest has been officially renamed Days Of The Doomed Fest IV - In Memory Of Jason McCash. In order to help support Jason's family, I will be integrating a benefit into DOTD this June, and the shirt you see posted below (which will also be available at benefits in Indianapolis and Baltimore) will be available in ‘Memorial Bundles’, which will include said shirt in various sizes, a button, and special tribute rubber wrist band. Proceeds will go directly to Jason's wife and three children. These bundles will be limited to 100, so when they're gone, they're gone.”Days Of The Doomed Fest IV will be June 20th and 21st in Milwaukee, WI. Other benefits being planned for the McCash family include one in Baltimore and one in Jason's hometown of Indianapolis.
If you are unable to attend any of these, a fundraising campaign has been set up and donations can be made at GoFundMe.com.
