Guitar legend Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth) is featured in a new interview with Music Radar discussing his new album, Inferno. An excerpt is available below:

Q: Inferno is your first American release, but how is if different from the solo albums you’ve put out in Japan?

Friedman: “Well, one of the things that having a TV career in Japan has allowed me to do is put out solo albums without a single consideration for who the end user is. I can cater to every one of my whims, and the only person I have to worry about pleasing is myself. If you wanna come to the party, that’s great. Inferno is a worldwide release, and the company that put the whole thing together is American. I gathered a lot of thoughts from people all over the world as to what they wanted from me. What came back was, people wanted me to play my ass off and be aggressive, and they wanted it to be metal.”

Friedman has released a lyric video for the track "Sociopaths", featured on his new solo release, Inferno.Due out on May 23rd in Germany/Austria/Switzerland, May 26th in the UK/Europe, May 27th in North America via Prosthetic Records (except in Japan, where the album will be released by Universal Music on May 21st), Inferno - recorded primarily in Los Angeles with engineer Chris Rakestraw (Danzig, Children Of Bodom) and mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth) - features what Friedman recently told Guitar World is "the most intense writing and playing I can do".

The album also includes notable guest appearances by several artists influenced by Friedman, including flamenco/metal acoustic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela, Children of Bodom front man Alexi Laiho, Skyhardbor mastermind Keshav Dhar and Revocation guitar whiz David Davidson, as well as Friedman's first songwriting collaboration with Jason Becker since the pair played together in Cacophany, the pioneering duo of guitar mayhem.

In addition, Inferno breaks all genre rules and creates new ones with an exhilarating and musically daring mash-up with Jørgen Munkeby of Shining, as well as two tracks featuring vocals by rock guru Danko Jones. Overall, Inferno is by far Friedman's most thrilling and adventurous effort to date.
