AMARANTHE Vocalist Elize Ryd On Criticism Via The Internet - "It's Very Easy To Say Almost Anything When You're Protected Behind A Screen"
May 6, 2014, 10 years ago
Amaranthe vocalist Elize Ryd is featured in a new interview with Dreyman Magazine. An excerpt is available below:
On dreams: "I am a dreamer and always been. It can sometimes be hard, especially around realists, and sometimes I actually wish I was a simple realist. I think its easier to not dream, but it would make life a bit more grey. It is wonderful, especially among other dreamers. If you’re lucky you find them early in life. I think almost every artistic person is a dreamer, a thinker and everything else that the right part of the brain controls. Olof and me had the exactly same sight on life and we shared the same dreams, today I can definitely say it was right of us to focus and dont give up, we have got the honor to reach almost every dream. My next dream is to make my own solo album. "
On criticism: "Recently I started a discussion about internet hate on my blog. We receive lots of love, but also lots of shit on the internet. Free speech on the Internet affects many people, not only us artists. It could be hard to handle the negative in the beginning, but now I'm used to it. I understand that it's very easy to say almost anything when you're sitting at home protected behind a screen, the problem is that it makes people say things they probably wouldn't say in real life. People have different opinions about everything, just like I have mine. I know people have different taste, it's normal. We get both positive and negative critique, and it's no problem for me to handle it. Constructive criticism can be very good, but when it comes to hating us because of the music we make I get very concerned about the world, human rights, cyberbullism, respect, sexism, equality and the developing of the human mind in general."

Amaranthe have announced that they will be returning to North America in support of their new album. The band will be providing direct support for WITHIN TEMPTATION. The tour begins September 25th in San Francsico, CA and runs through October 11th in Worcester, MA. Tickets for all shows go on sale tomorrow and a complete list of dates can be found below.
Guitarist Olof Morck commented on the North American tour: "We could not be more pleased to announce that we will be supporting Within Temptation on their North American tour this fall! I have loved Within Temptation's music for almost ten years, so it will be an honor to support them. But most of all, we can't wait to see our amazing American fans again, and make a bunch of new ones!"
The band has confirmed an autumn 2014 release date for their new studio album via Spinefarm Records; as yet untitled, this latest outing will be the follow-up to Amaranthe (2011, now gold in Sweden) and The Nexus (2013).
These two releases, which defined the band's approach through their signature blend of musical styles and voices, caused an international stir right from the start; not only did The Nexus top the rock chart in Sweden, but it went straight to #1 on the US iTunes Metal Chart as well, whist the videos (from both albums) have continued to clock up millions of views ('Hunger', from Album 1, is now at the 6 million-plus mark).
The success of these records saw Amaranthe laying to audiences all over the world, and now - following shows across Europe, including an appearance at the Bandit Awards in Stockholm where one of the band's three singers, Elize Ryd, received the 'Rock n' Role Model' Award - the six will head back into the studio.
