STRYPER - First Run Of New Michael Sweet Autobiography Sold Out In Less Than A Week
May 20, 2014, 10 years ago
Stryper frontman Michael Sweet has posted the following update regarding his new book Honestly: My Life And Stryper Revealed:
"The first run of books sold out in less than one week! We weren't really prepared for the incredible demand. Thank you! More coming ASAP..."Sweet recently issued the following message regarding his motivation for writing the book in the first place:
"The purpose of writing my book/autobiography was with the intent of being therapeutic and healing for not only myself, but for the reader as well. I NEVER meant to hurt anyone by telling my story. I love my mom, my dad, Rob, Oz and Tim. We've been through a lot together and I tried my best not to be resentful but at the same time, be open and honest about my stories and my feelings. The reason why I did not go to them to get their opinion/comments before the book was released is because I know (and have known for years) that we all have different opinions about the past and how it went down. I knew that it would not be an easy task writing a book and sure enough it was not. The book was re-written 3 times and edited 3 times as well. I combed over it with a fine tooth comb time and time again and I didn't want it to be about attacking the people I love and care for. I wanted it to be about healing and moving forward. So many questions have been asked over the years and this was an opportunity to answer most of them and put many of the rumors to rest. I've been through a lot, we all have, and it helped me to be able to talk about the past and 'come clean' if you will. So far the reviews have been exceptionally positive and it says to me that the goal was somewhat achieved - to encourage and inspire others. I hope and pray that you all understand my heart and intentions and after reading the book we will all be directed to it's true purpose - to live, learn and in the end, honor God.
I love you guys."
Sweet recently released his cover of the Neil Young classic "Heart Of Gold", taken from his new solo album I'm Not Your Suicide. The song and video features Electra Mustaine, the daughter of Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, as a guest vocalist:
