Oblivion Myth vocalist Ray LeGrand has announced that after four years fronting the Nashville based power/prog metal band, that the time has come for him to vacate the mic stand and explore his creative options.

“I was blown away just to have the opportunity to be a part of this band. There really aren’t a lot of heavy bands in the area that feature clean / melodic vocals, let alone something in the power metal vein or that have the mystique and underground following that we have!”, muses LeGrand as he reflects back on his time with OM. “I have a lot of love and respect for my brothers in the band, both past and present. However, I have been feeling like my time was coming for a while now and since my family and I are making plans to move to Germany in the next two or three years, it just seemed like I was given a timeline to make something else happen here in the US, before we jump the pond."

The brainchild of guitarist Keith Smith, Oblivion Myth has had various incarnations through the years in both Illinois and Florida before putting down roots in Nashville, early in 2006 when Keith joined forces with young guitar virtuoso Chris Selby and drummer Patrick Nickell. The current lineup is fronted by vocalist Ray LeGrand, bassist Patrick White and drummer Bob Schultz, alongside Smith.

In addition to Oblivion Myth, LeGrand also made a splash with his symphonic/power metal recording project, LeGrand Bruit, with the single “Endure” released in 2013. Having been mastered by power metal vocal icon and main man at Nightmare Records, Lance King was quoted as saying, “I’m hyper-critical of vocalists as you might guess. Ray has a ‘manly tone’, very warm, yet powerful. Credit where credit is due, he didn’t just start singing that way, he earned it. I wish him luck with his future music, but I'm sure he won't need luck… No doubt the next thing will be great!"

And ‘earn it’ he has, including the recognition of his Nashville peers who named him “Metal Vocalist Of The Year” at the 2014 Music City Mayhem Awards Show, which turns the spotlight on the hard rock and heavy metal musicians who call the music mecca, that is Nashville, their home.

Steve Braun, vocalist for Sony/RED | Massacre Records band Halcyon Way shared, "When Ray told me that he was leaving Oblivion Myth it was a shock. I respect him not only as a singer but as a friend as well, so I support his decision 100%. I'm honored that his last gig is going to be in support of Halcyon Way for our Nashville CD release show on August 16th at The Rutledge. This is not the last we'll hear from Ray and for that I'm excited but it's sad that it's an end of an era with Oblivion Myth."

LeGrand has been fielding audition opportunities on both the local and international scene. As for what the future may hold, Ray says, “Honestly, I would love to put together a straight up European style power metal project from the ground up, here in Nashville. But, anything that is melodic, hooky and heavy could catch my attention, that’s for sure. And while my preference would be to start something totally new, I would consider taking over the mic for a well established project, should the opportunity present itself."

Oblivion Myth are talking to a few potential singers in regards to the pending vacancy at center stage. Any interested parties should contact Keith Smith via email at OblivionMyth@gmail.com in order to be considered as LeGrand's successor.

LeGrand himself can be reached via his email, stRayHD@yahoo.com and music from Oblivion Myth as well as LeGrand Bruit can be found on most major online sites (Facebook, Reverbnation, YouTube, Twitter, Spotify, iTunes, etc.).
