Brian Vollmer, singer for Canuck rock legends HELIX, has issued the following update:

"Next Wednesday (November 29th) we will be giving an early Christmas present to Helix fans. As a thank-you for all your support throughout the year, we have recorded a brand new song that we will be posting next Wednesday on our MySpace site. You will be able to listen to the song in it’s entirety and also to download the song if you would like. The song came about after an hour long conversation I had with Michael Ivarsson of Sweden Rock Festival a couple of weeks ago. We were discussing the possibility of bringing Helix back to Europe next summer. The conversation ended with Michael suggesting that we write a song called “Fill Your Head With Rock”. 3 years ago Kim Mitchell wrote a song with the same title and it became the theme song of the festival. Michael hopes that every year a different band writes a different song with that title. I got off the phone and thought, “I think Gord, Steve, and I already have a lick that chorus will fit.” Within short time I had written the verses and chorus and then Iphoned Gord to tell him my idea. Gord then took that idea and wrote the lead rhythm in his head. A couple of days later the three of us got together and before too long the song was finished. Last Thursday we went into EMAC Studios and recorded the song.

So the song is to thank you-our fans-for your loyal support throughout 2006; one of the band’s best. After a successful return to Europe in 2005 we started off this year with a two week tour through western Canada in support of my autobiography Gimme An R! followed by an eastern Canadian tour in support of ALICE COOPER. We also played several major festivals this summer with such notables as THE SWEET, VINCE NEIL, QUIET RIOT and LOU GRAMM. In October the new Trailer Park Boy’s movie The Big Dirty featured our 1983 hit song 'Heavy Metal Love' and just last month Planet Helix was featured on MTV Cribs. We released our new CD Get Up! in early November and so the CDs have been blowing out of here."
