As previously reported, STREAM OF PASSION - featuring AYREON mastermind Arjen Lucassen and vocalist Marcela Bovio - performed at Circo Volador in Mexico City, Mexico on October 14th with XANDRIA and ANATHEMA. Bovio has issued the following recap of the show:

"Hi everyone!

We're back from the amazing experience that was playing in Mexico City! We certainly had a wonderful time.

We all arrived to the city on different days: Johan and I were there from Monday before the show, and had a few days to get to know the city and buy some souvenirs and Mexican-style accesories for the show (a million thanks to Karen, Faridee, Kain and Gerardo for showing us around!). On Wednesday we did a couple of interviews, one for radio and one on television for a big music station, Telehit. Coolness!

Arjen, Davy, Alex, Naomi (our tour manager), Pieter (our sound engineer) and René (who joined us for the trip to document everything with his camera!) arrived on Thursday evening and we gathered in the hotel to have dinner together. Although sadly we were not yet as a complete band it felt good to see the Dutchies again! Food in the hotel was really good so we stuffed ourselves, hehehe. We discussed a few things about the show and then went to bed early for everyone to recover from their respective jetlags.

Next day we drove in the morning for some sightseeing: the aztec pyramids of Teotihuacán! I'd never been there before so it was a very cool experience; we bought a few more things (including ridiculous hats), climbed quite a few steps and admired the lovely view from the top of the Sun Pyramid. The atmosphere is very relaxed and solemn, if you leave out the hundreds of salesmen trying to convince you buy an obsidian sculpture, a clay flute in the shape of a turtle and everything in between. Alejandro was sold though, and bought a very interesting looking flute which we later guessed could've been dedicated to the aztec rain god Tlaloc, because we were caught by the rain later on and decided to drive back.

So we traveled for about an hour (traffic in Mexico City is really heavy!), got back to the hotel to freshen up and then head to the Rock Shop for a signing session. We were surprised on how many people showed up, it was great! We greeted lots of very enthusiastic people, got some really sweet presents, and basically started to get really excited about the show the next day. That evening Diana and Lori arrived so the band was finally complete! It felt so good =). On Saturday we spent most of the time at the venue, Circo Volador

We were expecting to have a long soundcheck to rehearse a little, since we didn't have any rehearsing time before this show except for Arjen, Johan and Davy getting together in Holland. Unfortunately, due to a series of delays and problems with the equipment we had to wait a lot; on top of that we had a series of disastrous events: the keyboard stand Alejandro was using wasn't strong enough and caused his Triton to fall on top of a borrowed keyboard, breaking a few of the keys; plus Johan's wireless just didn't work, and neither did a second device brought over by the staff. Lori was kind enough to give up hers, and a few phone calls brought us a new keyboard for the piano parts; so once again, we pulled through the hard moments with great aplomb! We really appreciate all the people helping us out and borrowing us their instruments, thank you so much!

So we could only soundcheck a few songs, but everything felt good once again; the experience of the past tours showed and we really didn't have much problems getting the band together again. When it was time to go on stage our energy levels went back up immediately, because we could feel a tremendously good vibe coming from the audience.

In Mexico we take pride on going totally wild when we go see a band perform, and this time was no exception; I just can't describe how amazing it was for us (and the Mexicans specially) to receive such a warm and enthusiastic response, which of course made us go even wilder on stage! We were giving it all we had, and then some; for me at least the headbanging hangover lasted for the next four days, hehe...

All I have left to say is: ¡¡MIL GRACIAS!! To the promotors, the staff, the fans and friends, all you people who traveled for so long to go see the show. This was truly a really special night for us all!! STREAM ON!!"
