Locomotive Records Starts 2007 On A High With 5 New Releases
December 4, 2006, 17 years ago
Spain’s Locomotive Records (distributed stateside by Ryko), will release five new albums of pioneering and adventurous extreme music in January. The press release reads as follows:
Queen Of Siam (January 16) by HOLY MOSES, is a re-release of the German Thrash Metal band’s eleventh album since 1980 when, in the small hamlet of Aachen, guitarist Andy Classen formed the band with his girlfriend (now wife) Sabina Classen. Long known throughout Europe as “The Female Vocalist From Hell,” Sabina gives HM its personality as well as its soul. She is, indeed, the Queen Of Siam!
Toxicnology Part 1 & 2 (January 30), by ALCOHOLIKA LA CHRISTO, could be called Industrial Goth if it weren’t so damn uncategorizable. This Bolivian band defies all genres and all languages (singing in English, Spanish and French). Its themes of desolation, witchcraft, racism, fascism, death and drugs make Toxicnology a dark and disturbing experience
No Gravity (January 30) is by KIKO LOUREIRO, one of the most talented guitar players currently working in Brazil. Known worldwide for his electric power within the band ANGRA, Kiko, on No Gravity, shows his true versatility and wide range of musical expression. Ably backed by Yngwie drummer Mike Terrana, Kiko not only plays all acoustic and electric guitars but percussion, keyboards, piano and bass as well! With no vocals, the instrumental action gets complex yet stays clean and true, locked into a Kiko Mode of dazzling musicianship and stirring chops, with strong Latin rhythms and jazzy improv.
The History Of Fear (January 30) is an unauthorized biographical documentary DVD of IRON MAIDEN that starts in the 1975 East London neighborhood where the band originated. After hitting the skids with local acts GYPSY'S KISS and SMILER, bassist Steve Harris knew he had to take that next step and transcend his working-man existence. What he and his Iron bandmates have accomplished in the years since is no less than staggering: 14 studio albums, four “best-of” compilations, nine live albums and four boxed sets, a mammoth 70 million records sold. Complete with interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, extensive discography and digital fan quiz, this is their story.
There’s a new “Woman Of Metal” and her name is Nikki Gronewold. Puppet On A String, by NIKKI PUPPET, features her vocals and the blazing fury of Greek Guitar God Christos Mamalitsidis on an album of pure heavy metal, ageless hard rock and power ballads. With Gronewold, Mamalitsidis, bassist Anke Sobek and drummer Michael Wolpers, Nikki Puppet is primed and ready to rock! January 30.
