Producer KEVIN SHIRLEY: "I'm Married"
December 12, 2006, 17 years ago
Legendary producer Kevin Shirley (IRON MAIDEN, LED ZEPPELIN, RUSH) has posted the following message in his Caveman Diary:
"I'm marrried! We had a truly wonderful wedding. The bride looked ravishing (and ravenous!) in the little jam-packed Medora church. The two best men, my son and Pat Thrall were looking fine in their formal wear, Josh looking like someone outta Reservoir Dogs, all pimped up as he made an astounding speech (we were wondering whether some prior best man had left a speech in the jacket pocket before Josh bought it, it was that good!).
Then he and the Chi Omega girls from the University of Evansville shimmied the night away, and there was no indication of the frigid 15 degree weather outside.
Doug Henthorn (of the HEALING SIXES and guest on JOE BONAMASSA's latest CD) sang JEFF BUCKLEY's version of 'Hallelujah' for us in the church as we lit the Unity Candle, and visiting preacher Clarence Brown sang an amazing version of 'His Eye Is On The Sparrow', in that gorgeous coffee-rich baritone voice that only Southern Baptist Preachers can have! It was spine-tingling!
We had our first dance to Joe Bonamassa's 'Asking Around For You', from his latest CD, You And Me.
Thanks for all the best wishes - from Australia, Venezuala, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, South Africa, England - we really appreciate it so much.
The normally drab and gray Conservation Club was transformed into a fairytale setting by some genius inspired decor - inspiration and perspiration all courtesy of Bobby G - and Living Proof, a kickass funky band from Indy were amazing, and later in the evening Pat Thrall joined them on guitar as Doug again took the microphone for some funky jams and a raucous rendition of 'Superstition'.
Thanks to everyone, Preacher Stan, our wonderful parents and families, and all the Medora ladies and gents who worked so hard to make it so special!
Love, Kev (and Mrs. Shirley!)"
