news life in black atavist

Profound Lore Records has issued the following press release:

"Slowing moving with the times, we are proud to announce v2 of the Profound Lore Records website. Still pretty much in the same format as the previous site, this time with a bit of a facelift of sorts as well.

Basically the release of the new ASUNDER album, and all albums henceforth coming, marks a new definitive chapter in the Profound Lore story, one in which will signal a new and improved turn for the label and one in which we wanted to reflect with this sligh website upgrade.

With this new website upgrade also comes our new online shopping cart system that has been implemented strictly for our releases only. (A simple click of the button beside the price for each respective territory listed and you’ll be directed straight to PayPal and simply proceed along…)

As for the Canadian customers, since now the only option for this online cart is to have the prices in US dollars, the lowered CD prices reflect the exchange rate as best as possible, for better or worse. It’s something we couldn’t work around.

Again, if you want to mix multiple LPs and CDs together for a possible reduced shipping rate (depending on the location), and order them manually, just send an email of concern for something to be worked out. Not a problem…

And of course there will still be the option of sending well-hidden cash etc. and/or a money order.

We will also have a new Blog/Distribution sector intact, to make it more integrated with our new look, hence anything ordered through it (even if mixed with one of our own titles) will have to be ordered via PayPal manually (profoundlorerecords@yahoo.com). Not that much of a hassle really…

So lets hope this new system will make it easier and more convenient for our customers. Any questions or concerns, hit us up at info@profoundlorerecords.com. Thanks for everyone’s patience and understanding.

And now onto the latest addition of artists to the PFL roster and a fucking ATAVIST update!

CAÏNA...

Hailing from Southampton, the one man entity known as CAÏNA is slowly making an impression within avant-garde black metal circles. Commanded by the very young and promising musician Andrew Curtis-Brignell, and having released two demo tapes via Drakkar Productions, and the Caïna debut album, Some People Fall, this past year on God Is Myth, Profound Lore will be releasing said debut’s successor entitled Mourner.

Caïna’s vision though goes much beyond the standard black metal paradigm. By also including elements of post-rock, drone, experimental, neo-folk, and sing-along acoustic to the set vision that Brignell has adapted within the realm of experimental black metal. Destined to be recognized as one of the UK’s most promising musicians in the underground, one can picture Brignell’s vision in a way if the 4AD label were to release a black metal album, or if Mar k Kozelek of The Red House Painters were to make such an album. Expect Mourner to confront the light sometime this summer.

PULSEFEAR...

With the frightening and nightmarish sound manipulations experienced with one of the UK’s most formidable extreme musical artists, The Axis Of Perdition, Profound Lore is readying itself to present the Axis’ alter ego, PULSEFEAR.

Just before TAOP unearthed itself to an unsuspecting public, the duo of Michael Blenkarn and Brooke Johnson were already beginning to sow the nightmare known as Pulsefear, which would eventually become The Axis Of Perdition as the original carnation was laid on ice. But the nightmare has surfaced and morphed once again as Pulsefear will unleash a whole new world of horror with their debut album, Perichoresis.

With material that ranges from 2001 to the present day, Perichoresis is a harrowing and chilling journey through rotten, decrepit, decaying, ghostly urban landscapes and eerie rust tainted corridors, where only faint memories remain, and where a lurking evil now dwells beneath the surface. An unsettling scenario painted before your eyes, Perichoresis is a surreal, disturbing, and unforgiving sonic ambient excursion. Expect what promises to be one of the most frightening albums of 2007 to breach sometime late spring.

ATAVIST Update...

And speaking of this Manchester abomination, ATAVIST have just finished recording their sophomore masterpiece that will be entitled, II: Ruined. Mastering should commence in about a few weeks, and simply expect what will be easily hailed as one of the most polarizing, sick, demented, and depraved blackened doom metal albums of 2007. The North American version will have different artwork and presentation/packaging, will most-likely include a bonus track, and oh yeah, will probably eclipse the 70 minute mark. You have been warned…"
