In the January 2007 issue of Germany's Metal Hammer, MASTERPLAN guitarist Roland Grapow comments on the departure of drummer/co-founder Uli Kusch, who left the band in October due to "creative differences." Grapow offers the following thoughts (translated from German) on the situation, admitting he was surprised by Kusch's decision:

"I didn't see it coming. We've known each other since 1993, we founded the band and we made all the decisions in Masterplan together. I know that he wasn't satisfied with the production of (previous album) Aeronautics. There were a lot of things that he wanted to change for the upcoming album. It really irritated me that he started his own band, Beautiful Sin, but maybe that was the first sign that we were going in different directions."

As previously reported, AFM Records has posted a sample from the upcoming Masterplan EP, Lost And Gone, due out on January 26th. The sample can be found here (player is located in top right hand corner).

Lost And Gone will be the band's first release with their new line-up featuring Mike DiMeo (RIOT/vocals), Roland Grapow (guitars), Mike Terrana (ex-RAGE/drums), Jan S. Eckert (bass) and Axel Mackenrott (keyboards). Their fulll length studio album will be released in February; a concrete date is expected to be revealed soon.

As previously reported, DiMeo replaces Jorn Lande and Terrana replaces Kusch.
