Manchester Evening News has issued the following report:

Said to be the standard bearers for ‘generation heavy’, US metalheads KILLSWITCH ENGAGE arrive here for a date on Thursday (January 11th). The Boston quintet, who starred on the Taste Of Chaos tour here in 2004, are back on the road to promote their latest offering, As Daylight Dies.

Formed in 1999, the group earned an enviable live reputation thanks to slots at OZZFest and on MTV2’s Headbanger's Ball tour, while their second LP, Alive Or Just Breathing, was sharply described by one magazine as, "more addictive than crack cocaine that’s been smothered in nicotine AND drenched with chocolate.”

The current version of Killswitch Engage features original members Mike D (bass), Joel Stroetzel, Adam Dutkiewicz (guitars) and drummer Justin Foley, with Howard Jones (no not the coiffured '80s throwback!) on vocals.

Their set should be the perfect appetiser ahead of the Kerrang! bandwagon’s scheduled stop at the same venue a week on Saturday.

Killswitch Engage play Academy 1 on Thursday, January 11th. THE HAUNTED and BURY YOUR DEAD support. £15. Call 0161 832 1111.
