New BURNING POINT Bassist Checks In
January 11, 2007, 17 years ago
Earlier this month Finland's BURNING POINT announced that they had enlisted new bassist Jukka Jokikokko.
Jukka now checks in with the following message: "First it is an honor to be a part of this group full of great musicians. I have known (guitarist/vocalist) Pete (Ahonen ) for some time for now. We have done music together in another band called STARGAZERY. I also knew (drummer) Jari (Kaiponen) before. On Burned Down The Enemy I was a studio engineer and I got to know rest of the band, (keyboardist) Jussi (Ontero) and later (guitarist) Pekka (Kolivuori).
Burning Point didn't have a bass player at the time, so Pete and the folks asked me if I wanted to play some tracks on the album. I played 12 tracks to 14 recorded and Pete played the other two. It felt pretty good to play those songs and then the band had a suprise gig in Club Teatria and I had the opportunity to go on stage with these guys. The gig was amazing and the chemistry of the band worked great since the first training session. We had some conversations and I informed them that I was available as a bassist if they wanted. So I didn't have much to think about when they asked me to join the band. 'Of course' was only right answer.
Jukka Jokikokko."
The band recently issued their third album, Burned Down The Enemy, in Japan.
The album features the following tracks: 'Parasite', 'Heart Of Gold', 'Dawn Of The Ancient War', 'Hell Awaits', 'From The Beginning Of It All', 'Icebound', 'Deceiver', 'Eye For An Eye', 'To Hell And Back', 'Against The Madness Of Time', 'Burned Down The Enemy'.
The limited European version, due later this year via Metal Heaven Records, will contain the following bonus tracks: 'My Reign, My Fire', 'Heart Of Gold' (demo) and 'The Road To Hell'. The European release date will be announced soon.
