SEPULTURA Guitarist ANDREAS KISSER - "The Great Majority Of Fans Do Not Talk About Max Anymore"
January 16, 2007, 17 years ago
Metal-Exiles.com recently hooked up with SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser to discuss the band's latest album, Dante XXI, and the ongoing tour. The following is a brief excerpt:
Metal Exiles: When Arise and Chaos AD were out, it seems like everybody was talking about you and everybody had those records and then nothing. How does it feel to be back out in America with a great CD?
Andreas: "We never really stopped, we just stayed away from America because it did not make sense to come here just for the hell of it."
Metal Exiles: Did Roorback not make sense?
Andreas: "Not really, SPV did not have a representation in America at the time and now with this record they do. Now we have MTV, a street team, tour support etc. It has to be there otherwise it is useless. We have to be back here next year again so we can keep in the Americans eyes."
Metal Exiles: Do you think that the American public have finally embraced Derrick?
Andreas: "I think so, yes. The great majority do not talk about Max anymore anyway. Derrick has grown up a lot and it really shows on stage and this record. The reason that Dante sounds the way it does is the time that has been spent on Derrick growing into how own."
Metal Exiles: I know on the internet everybody talks about Max coming back. Do you think that would blow the momentum of the band?
Andreas: "It is starting to get in the way actually but there is nothing going on. We are focused on what we are doing right now and we would throw everything away that we have built in the last 10 years."
