SAGA - ProgRock Records Label President Comments On Vocalist MICHAEL SADLER's Impending Departure
January 18, 2007, 17 years ago
In shocking news to fans of Canuck legends SAGA, longtime singer Michael Sadler recently announced he will be leaving the band this year. ProgRock Records president Shawn Gordon, who has worked with Sadler on a number of projects including his solo album, Clear, offered his thoughts on the decision to leave the band. Note that this is NOT an official statement and should not be treated at gospel:
"Michael is a good friend of ours and Saga is one of my all time favorite bands. Michael announced that this year, their 30th, will be his last with the band. There may or may not be another studio album, but there is at least one deluxe DVD coming out that was already filmed. If you like this band, this year will be the last time to see them intact (maybe Negus will rejoin for it). They are planning as much touring as they can fit in. This is just for personal reasons for Michael; I think he mostly didn't want the only 'chapter' of his life to be Saga, which it has been."
The following statement was issued via Sadler's official website:
"After lengthy consideration and a healthy amount of soul-searching, Michael has decided to announce his departure from Saga at the end of the year. Michael would also like to make it clear to everyone that his decision to leave is mostly of a personal nature! As far as the rest of the band are concerned, they have decided, for the moment, to keep all possible options open! An open letter from Michael to the fans can be expected in due time."
