Gigwise.com has issued the following report from Daniel Melia:
The campaign to save Hammersmith Palais has failed after the local council voted to push through plans to demolish it.
The iconic venue will now make way for offices following the meeting of Hammersmith and Fulham council.
A group of campaigners had been objecting to the plans for months tand wanted o have the building listed but English Heritage denied their claims.
Councillor Lucy Ibimy from Hammersmith and Fulham Council said: “We recognise the contribution the Palais has made to the west London music scene, but the golden days of the club are long gone.”
The venue originally opened as a jazz club in 1919 and has since played host to many a band from MOTÖRHEAD to DAVID BOWIE.
