BW&BK Exclusive: BATTLELORE Vocalist Explains Reasons For Founding Guitarist's Six Month Leave Of Absence

In a recent interview with BW&BK; about BATTLELORE's new album, Evernight, female vocalist Kaisa Jouhki explained the reasons for guitarist/founder Jyri Vahvanen taking a six month leave of absence from the band:
“Jyri just wanted to travel abroad," Kaisa reveals. "He had been dreaming of travelling to India for many, many years, so he decided last year – I think he told us in April or May – that he was going to leave at the beginning of 2007 and do some travelling. He had already booked the tickets at that point. So, he left at the beginning of this year and he’s going to be gone for six months, but no longer than that. It doesn’t affect our activities in any way because we will have another guy (Tommi Lintunen) playing guitar on tour for us. Of course the fans were freaking out when they heard Jyri was leaving, and the first thing that came to my mind when he told us was that something was wrong because his trip was exactly when the new album was due to come out, but he told me that he had to do this at some point. He couldn’t find any better or worse times to go because there would always be something happening with Battlelore, so he just decided to do it now. I understand his decision, and I think it’s very brave for him to do it.”Watch for the full story in BW&BK; #103.
As previously reported, Battlelore's forthcoming album, Evernight, will be released via Napalm Records on February 23rd, in Germany/Austria/Switzerland/Sweden as a regular jewel case and a limited edition digipack including two bonus tracks and different cover artwork. Evernight will be released in Finland on February 14th, in the rest of Europe on February 26th and in North America on March 13th.
