The following is an excerpt from interview conducted by Metal France with vocalist/bassist Vesku Jokinen, frontman for the Finnish punk band KYLÄHULLUT featuring CHILDREN OF BODOM's Alexi Laiho:

Lynn: To begin, we have to introduce the three members of Kylähullut. Alexi Laiho, Tonmi Lillman, and you, Vesku Jokinen. Some words about them and yourself?

Vesku: "I am a 36 old punk-rocker from Vaasa, Finland. My real name is Vesa Jokinen. My own band is called KLAMYDIA, we have been around about 20 years. It is pure melodic punk rock. We sing also in Finnish because my English is fuckin bad, and also the players cant play in English.:) I am singer or should I say noise-maker of Kylähullut."

Lynn: Can you tell us how Kylähullut was born?

Vesku: "Me and Alexi, we have known each other for a long time. The idea for this Kylähullut project came when I asked COB to play one cover song to Klamydia's 15 year anniversary compilation. Guys came and made a brilliant cover of our song called 'Latomeri'. After that we went to a bar with Alexi and got fuckin' drunk. We decided to do something more together. And during that night Kylähullut was born."

Lynn: Obviously Alexi Laiho is a big metal and guitar virtuoso fan, but what are the rest of the band's punk roots?

Vesku: "I am not looking after any kind of virtuosos or something like that. For me it's always the whole band which is important. Feeling of the music, good melodies and attitude means everything for me. That's why I love THE RAMONES, MOTÖRHEAD, THE MISFITS and so on. But I can say who has influenced for me most is one and only Joey Ramone."

Lynn: All the lyrics are in Finnish. So, can you tell me what you are talking about in your songs?

Vesku: "Liars, annoying and stupid people (we are so clever, hahaaa!:)), nerds, critics, drinking (surprise!:)), religion and everything we hate...but in some kind of funny way. Kylähullut gives the middle-finger to nearly everybody. Yesterday I made a song about Paris Hilton. Believe me, it's the greatest love song in mankind's history!"

Lynn: When we are listening to Kylähullut, we have the impression that you had lots of fun. There is a good mood in it. It gives a change in comparison to the other Finnish metal band which are mostly dark and depressive. What can you say about it?

Vesku: "We Finnish people, we definitely have our own-kind of humour. We call it black humour, but that's another story. In Kylähullut we have a lots of fun, lots of laughs and lots of drinking. We are three friends and we enjoy each others company, so I guess that sounds in our music."

As previously reported, Kylähullut will release a new EP, entitled Lisää Persettä Rättipäille (translated: More Ass To Ragheads), at the end of February in Finland. The tracklist is as follows: 'Intro' (Klamydia - E.V.V.K.), 'Lisää Persettä Rättipäille' ('More Ass To Ragheads'), 'Hip-Hop!', 'Majavannaama' ('Beavers Face'), 'Käkimassaa' ('Cuckoo Mass'). NIGHTWISH keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen and ex-FINNTROLL frontman Tapio WIlska make guest appearances on the EP.

The EP will be released through Kraklund Records.
