BW&BK Exclusive: NIGHTWISH Touring North America In The Fall, New Single To Be Issued May 30th

BW&BK; scribe Mark Gromen has issued the following report from the Finnish Metal Expo, which took place in Helsinki, Finland on February 16th and 17th:
Almost 5,000 people attended the annual business and music expo in Helsinki. Along with headlining performances by AMON AMARTH and DRAGONFORCE, the world's press were introduced to Finnish newcomers like BEFORE THE DAWN. As part of Friday's activities, the popular voted Finnish Metal Awards were handed out, including:
Band Of The Year: CHILDREN OF BODOM
Musician Of The Year: Kai Hahto of WINTERSUN
Vocalist Of The Year: Marco Hietala of TAROT / NIGHTWISH

BW&BK; spoke with Tuomas Holopainen and learned that Monday, NIGHTWISH is expected to announce a 23 date North American tour for the fall, to coincide with the September release of their new album. A single will be released on May 30th, the date when the Finns will formally introduce their new singer.
STRATOVARIUS frontman Timo Kotipelto played BW&BK; a few tracks from his forthcoming KOTIPELTO album, Serenity, to be issued by AFM Records. Suffice to say it won't disappoint fans of his past solo efforts, nor his mainstay outfit, although the tempo tends to avoid the Strats' kinetic pace. An April release is planned overseas.
